MANY RESIDENTS IN THE VILLAGE OF OAKWOOD HAVE COMPLAINED OF PROBLEMS WITH RACCOONS IN ATTICS AND AROUND THEIR HOMES.  RACCOONS COME INTO NEST NEAR AN EASY FOOD SOURCE WHICH COULD ME ANYHWERE CLOSE BY IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD OR AT YOUR HOME.  VERMILION COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL HAS BEEN TRYING TO HELP WITH THIS SITUATION.  WE ARE REMINDING ALL RESIDENTS IN THE VILLAGE OF OAKWOOD THAT IS AGAINST THE ORDINANCE CODE #15-10-12-1 TO LEAVE ANY TYPE OF FOOD SUCH AS CAT AND DOG FOOD OUTDOOORS WHICH WOULD DRAW WILDLIFE INTO THE VILLAGE. IT IS ALSO IN VIOLATION OF ORDINANCE CODE #08-07-14-1 TO LEAVE GARBAGE BAGS OUT AT ANYTIME. ALL GARBAGE MUST BE IN RECEPTACLE CONTAINERS WHERE ANIMALS TO DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO IT.  IF YOU CONTINUE TO CHOOSE THIS PRACTICE YOU WILL RECEIVE A CITATION.  WE ASK THAT IF YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO VIOLATING THIS CODE TO CALL THE OAKWOOD VILLAGE HALL AT 217-354-4255 OR OAKWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT AT 217-354-2131.

WITH THE CHANGE OF THE WEATHER MANY RESIDENTS ARE PLANNING HOME IMPROVEMENTS, CONSTRUCTION, ROOFING PROJECTS, SHEDS, GARAGES, FENCES, PATIOS, ETC.  AS A REMINDER THE VILLAGE OF OAKWOOD’S ORDINANCE  REQUIRES RESIDENTS TO OBTAIN A BUILDING PERMIT FROM THE VILLAGE .  FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE CONTACT THE VILLAGE HALL AT 217-354-4255. POLICE NOTICE

IT IS THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN.  THE VILLAGE OF OAKWOOD BOARD OF TRUSTEES HAS REQUESTED THAT THE OAKWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT START CONDUCTING CHECKS FOR ORDINANCE VIOLATIONS CONCERNING PROPERTY.

STARTING THE WEEK OF APRIL 1ST, 2017 THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL BE DOING CHECKS FOR PROPERTY MAINTENANCE CODE VIOLATIONS.

COMMON VIOLATIONS SEEN INNCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

SANITATION (ACCUMULATION OF RUBBISH OR GARBAGE AROUND PROPERTY

INOPERABLE VEHICLES (EXPIRED REGISTRATION, FLAT TIRES, SITTING FOR EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME WITH WEED GROWTH AROUND VEHICLE)

ROOFS AND DECORATIVE FEATURES (NOTICEABLE HOLES IN ROOF AREA, SIDING BLOWN OFF OF STRUCTURE, ETC)

PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AROUND YOUR PROPERTY THIS WEEK AND START FIXING OR CLEANING UP DEBRIS.  IF YOU DO RECEIVE A VIOLATION YOU WILL HAVE BETWEEN 10 AND 45 DAYS (DEPENDING ON VIOLATION) TO GET THE ISSUE ABATED.  IF VIOLATION IS NOT ABATED PRIOR TO THE DATE GIVEN A COURT APPEARANCE MAY BE REQUIRED.

ALL ANIMAL TAGS NEED TO BE RENEWED IN JANUARY 2017.  THIS APPLIES TO CATS AND DOGS ALIKE.  TAGS ARE $3.00 EACH AND CAN BE PURCHASED AT THE VILLAGE HALL AT 106 S. SCOTT ST. IF YOU HAVE PURCHASED A TAG YET PLEASE COME IN THE OFFICE AND GET YOUR TAG (S). THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.

THE OAKWOOD VILLAGE HALL PASSED A NEW ORDINANCE #16-9-12-1 AMENDING THE PROPERTY MAINTENANCE CODE AND A SUB CHAPTER TO MOBILE HOMES IN THE VILLAGE OF OAKWOOD.  THIS ORDINANCE GOES IN TO EFFECT 09/22/16.

THERE ARE NO PETS ALLOWED IN THE OAKWOOD PARK AT ANYTIME UNLESS THEY ARE A REGISTERED SERVICE ANIMAL.  PLEASE RESPECT THIS ORDINANCE FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL RESIDENCE WHO WANT TO ENJOY THE PARK.  THANK YOU.

THE OAKWOOD VILLAGE BOARD HAS PASSED ORDINANCE 15-4-13-2. THIS ORDINANCE REQUIRES ALL GARBAGE COLLECTION FRANCHISES TO OBTAIN A PERMIT FROM THE VILLAGE OF OAKWOOD.  IF YOU ARE DOING BUSINESS IN THE VILLAGE OF OAKWOOD PLEASE REPORT TO OAKWOOD VILLAGE HALL PRIOR TO MAY 8TH, 2015.  FOR DETAILS YOU MAY REFER TO  OUR ORDINANCE SECTION ON THIS WEBSITE OR CALL THE VILLAGE HALL AT 217-354-4255.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE OAKWOOD BASS FISHING TEAM FOR PLACING THIRD AT STATE. BEING ONE OF 4 SCHOOLS IN ILLINOIS THAT QUALIFIED. THEY WILL NOW BE GOING TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AT KENTUCKY LAKE.  THEY ARE NEEDING DONATIONS TO FUND THEIR TRIP.  FOR MORE INFORMATION CONTACT DAVE MARKWELL AT 217-474-7323.

THE VILLAGE OF OAKWOOD WILL BE SELLING RAFFLE TICKETS STARTING APRIL 4TH FOR A HIS AND HER REPRODUCTION 1949 CHICAGO SCHWINN BICYCLES.  THE TICKETS ARE $20.00 EACH AND THE WINNER WILL WIN BOTH BICYCLES.  THE PROCEEDS GO TO SUPPORT THE NEW OAKWOOD PARK ALL INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND.  DRAWING WILL BE HELD AFTER THE PARADE AT THE 4TH OF JULY FESTIVITIES.  LIMITED NUMBER OF TICKETS SOLD SO GET YOURS EARLY.

SOME HAVE INQUIRED ABOUT DONATIONS TOWARDS THE MEMORIAL.  WE ARE ALWAYS ACCEPTING DONATIONS TOWARDS UPKEEP AND IMPROVEMENTS TO THE WAR MEMORIAL.  ANYONE INTERESTED IN MAKING DONATIONS CAN DO SO AT FIRST FARMERS BANK IN OAKWOOD DESIGNATED TO THE WAR MEMORIAL OR DROP OFF AT OAKWOOD VILLAGE HALL AT 106 S.
