THE OAKWOOD VILLAGE HALL WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY, MAY 28TH, 2018 IN OBSERVANCE OF MEMORIAL DAY.  WE WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND OUR SINCERE GRATITIUDE TO THOSE WHO HAVE MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE TO SERVE OUR COUNTRY,  PLEASE HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY.

 TO AVOID AND ORDINANCE VIOLATION  ALL PETS MUST HAVE A VILLAGE TAG AND COUNTY TAG.  PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO RUN AT LARGE AND MUST BE ON A LEASH AT ALL TIMES OR YOUR PET WILL BE PICKED UP BY VERMILION COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL AND YOU WILL BE ISSUED A FINE.   NO PETS ARE ALLOWED AT THE OAKWOOD PARK AT ANYTIME.

THE VILLAGE OF OAKWOOD CLEANUP DAY  IS SET FOR SATURDAY, JUNE 9TH FROM 7:00AM-11:00AM UNDER THE WATER TOWER.  YOU MUST BE A RESIDENT OF THE VILLAGE OF OAKWOOD AND BE PREPARED TO SHOW ID AT THE TIME OF DROP OFF. THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT TIRES, BATTERIES, TV’S, COMPUTERS, PAINT CANS, CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL, AND HAZARDOUS MATERIAL.  FOR QUESTIONS YOU MAY CONTACT THE  VILLAGE HALL AT 217-354-4255.

FOR DISCUSSION ON ANY MATTER AT A VILLAGE BOARD MEETING YOU MUST BE PLACED ON THE MEETING AGENDA PRIOR TO THE MEETING. YOU WILL BE GIVEN 3 MINUTES TO SPEAK OR THE TIME ALLOTTED BY THE VILLAGE BOARD. ALL MEETINGS WILL NOW BE RECORDED.

WITH THE CHANGE OF THE WEATHER MANY RESIDENTS ARE PLANNING HOME IMPROVEMENTS, CONSTRUCTION, ROOFING PROJECTS, SHEDS, GARAGES, FENCES, PATIOS, ETC.  AS A REMINDER THE VILLAGE OF OAKWOOD’S ORDINANCE  REQUIRES RESIDENTS TO OBTAIN A BUILDING PERMIT FROM THE VILLAGE .  FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE CONTACT THE VILLAGE HALL AT 217-354-4255. ALL ANIMAL TAGS NEED TO BE RENEWED IN JANUARY 2018.  THIS APPLIES TO CATS AND DOGS ALIKE.  TAGS ARE $3.00 EACH AND CAN BE PURCHASED AT THE VILLAGE HALL AT 106 S. SCOTT ST. IF YOU HAVE PURCHASED A TAG YET PLEASE COME IN THE OFFICE AND GET YOUR TAG (S). THE VILLAGE OF OAKWOOD WANTS TO WELCOME BETHANY TO TOWN!

BETHANY IS A TRAINED lCC K-9 COMFORT DOG FROM TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH IN DANVILLE, IL.  HER HOST FAMILY LIVES IN OAKWOOD. SHE INTERACTS WITH PEOPLE AT CHURCHES, SCHOOLS, NURSING HOMES, HOSPITALS, EVENTS AND IN DISASTER RESPONSE SITUATIONS. FOR MORE INFORMATION WE HAVE BUSINESS CARDS AVAILABLE AT VILLAGE HALL OR VISIT HER FACEBOOK PAGE AT BethanyComfortDog.

 

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THE ART STUDENTS AT OHS FOR THEIR ARTISTIC CONTRIBUTION TO THE VILLAGE OF OAKWOOD.  WE REACHED OUT TO THE ART TEACHER AMANDA NICHOLS AND WHEN SHE APPROACHED HER STUDENTS WITH THE IDEA THEY WERE MORE THAN UP TO THE CHALLENGE.  THE VILLAGE HALL HAS PURCHASED A FLAG DROP BOX WHERE THE COMMUNITY CAN BRING THEIR WORN FLAGS.  THE STUDENTS DID A FANTASTIC JOB AND SHOWED THEIR PATRIOTISM IN THEIR ART WORK.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR WONDERFUL CONTRIBUTION.

THE AMERICAN LEGION POST #610 OAKWOOD, IL POSTS THE SIGNS THROUGHOUT THE VILLAGE OF OAKWOOD TO HONOR THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE CURRENTLY SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES.

IN ORDER TO UPDATE THE SIGNAGE WE NEED RESIDENTS TO CONTACT THE  AMERICAN LEGION IF YOU HAVE A FAMILY MEMBER WHO IS CURRENTLY SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES.

THE CRITERA IS AS FOLLOWS:

  1. MUST BE A NATIVE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAKWOOD WHO GRADUATED FROM OAKWOOD HS
  2. CURRENTLY SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES

WE WOULD ALSO LIKE RESIDENCE TO NOTIFY US OF THOISE WHO HAVE BEEN DISCHARGED FROM SERVICE SO WE CAN TAKE DOWN THOSE SIGNS.
