The October 12th Board Meeting has been cancelled due to the up rise in COVID-19 cases in Vermilion County and the number of exposures risks in the Village of Oakwood. We are preparing to go to remote meetings as soon as this technology can be set up.  We are hoping to have it up and running and training in place by the November meeting.  If you have any questions please contact our office at 217-354-4255. WITH WARM WEATHER MANY ARE PLANNING CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS AND REPAIRS.  PLEASE REMEMBER YOU ARE REQUIRED BY ORDINANCE TO OBTAIN A BUILDING PERMIT FOR ALL CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS THROUGH THE VILLAGE. WITH OUR OFFICES CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC YOU CAN OBTAIN THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE UNDER FORMS.  FILL IT OUT AND RETURN BY EMAIL TO oakwood-village@comcast.net OR YOU CAN PLACE IT IN THE DROP BOX ON THE DOOR AT THE VILLAGE HALL.  WE WILL CONTACT YOU ONCE YOUR PERMIT HAS BEEN APPROVED.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.

ANY NEW BUSINESS, VENDORS, FOOD TRUCKS, OF ANY KIND ARE REQUIRED BY ORDINANCE TO FILL  A BUSINESS LICENSE PERMIT AND TURN IT INTO THE VILLAGE HALL.  THE FORM IS LISTED UNDER “FORMS” ON THIS WEBSITE AND CAN BE EMAILED TO THE VILLAGE OR DROPPED OFF AT THE VILLAGE HALL DROP BOX.  THE PERMIT WILL GO BEFORE THE VILLAGE BOARD FOR REVIEW AND A DECISION WILL BE MADE AT THAT TIME IF YOU ARE PERMITTED TO DO BUSINESS WITHIN THE VILLAGE BOUNDARIES. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SET UP AND DO BUSINESS WITHOUT AN APPROVED PERMIT.  THANK YOU.

With recommendations by the CDC, municipalities are being asked to cancel all Village sponsored events this summer in which groups of more than 10 gather. This is to try and knock out the spread of the Covid-19 virus to the point there are no new reported cases.  The following events have been cancelled:

Oakwood Farmers Market (to return June 2021)

Oakwood’s Annual 4th of July Celebration

Oakwood Fire Department Annual Pancake Breakfast

TO AVOID AN ORDINANCE VIOLATION ALL PETS MUST HAVE A VILLAGE TAG AND COUNTY TAG. TAGS FOR 2020 ARE SOLD AT THE OAKWOOD VILLAGE HALL LOCATED AT 106 S. SCOTT ST.

PLEASE RESPECT THE SAFETY OF OTHERS AS PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO RUN AT LARGE AND MUST BE ON A LEASH AT ALL TIMES. NON COMPLIANCE TO ORDINANCE15-6-8-1 WILL RESULT IN A CITATION. NO PETS ARE ALLOWED AT THE OAKWOOD PARK AT ANYTIME. THANK YOU FOR COOPERATION

IF YOU HAVE A SOLICITOR IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD PLEASE REPORT TO VILLAGE HALL AT 217-354-4255.  AS ALWAYS, IF SOMEONE THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW IS AT YOUR DOOR DO NOT ANSWER WITHOUT PROPER IDENTIFICATION.  ALL SOLICITORS MUST REGISTER AT THE OAKWOOD VILLAGE HALL AT 106 S. SCOTT ST. AND ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GO DOOR TO DOOR IN THE VILLAGE WITHOUT SPECIAL PERMIT  FROM THE OAKWOOD VILLAGE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES.
