THE OAKWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS RECEIVED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT A FEMALE, WHITE SUBJECT POSSIBLY IN HER 20’S GOING TO HOMES IN THE AREA SELLING CANDLES FOR $5.00. SHE STATES THESE CANDLES ARE FOR HER DAUGHTER WHO IS SELLING THEM THROUGH EITHER THE GIRLS SCOUTS OR OAKWOOD GRADE SCHOOL (WE HAVE CHECKED AND IT APPEARS NEITHER ORGANIZATION IS SELLING CANDLES) LATER IN THE EVENING THIS SAME FEMALE SUBJECT COMES BACK TO THE HOUSES ACTING AS IF SHE KNOWS THEM AND ASKING FOR MONEY TO GET HER CAR OUT OF THE TOW LOT.

WE BELIEVE THIS IS A SCAM AND REQUESTING THAT IF THIS FEMALE APPROACHES YOU PLEASE DO NOT GIVE HER MONEY AND CALL 911 AND REPORT IT IMMEDIATELY. EITHER THE OAKWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT OR VERMILION COUNTY SHERRIFS OFFICE WILL RESPOND TO LOCATE AND IDENTIFY THIS FEMALE AND TAKE ANY ACTION NECESSARY.

WE HAVE RECEIVED SEVERAL VARIATIONS OF VEHICLE DESCRIPTIONS FROM A LARGE SUV, LIGHT BLUE MINI-VAN TO A SMALL DARK CAR.

AGAIN WE ARE SUGGESTING YOU NOT GIVE ANY MONEY TO THIS PERSON AND CONTACT 911.  if YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CALL THE OAKWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT 217-354-2131.
